Rooted in an article prepared six years ago for The Architect’s Newspaper, the argument centers around the refusal of the United States –and several other super powers, to become signatories to the Rome Statute; by refusing to recognize the International Criminal Courts, the United States and Israel do not lend themselves to be held accountable for the destruction of UNESCO cultural heritage sites in Iran. A mere academic premonition some six years ago, now a reality to confront.
