Maclean’s has ranked the University of Toronto as Canada’s Top School by Reputation. In their article they site the Daniels Building:

“The most recent addition to U of T facilities is One Spadina, the new home of the John H. Daniels faculty of architecture, landscape and design. Designed by acclaimed architects Nader Tehrani and Katherine Faulkner, the glass-fronted, zigzagging concrete structure has been lauded by the Globe and Mail as “one of the best Canadian buildings of the past decade.”

“The relationship between Principal Hall and its neighbouring spaces provides an example of what is perhaps NADAAA’s greatest contribution to this spectacular project: their remarkably deft and judicious ability to orchestrate frequent and meaningful changes in scale […] a succession of spaces, each correctly calibrated for its own needs, yet arranged so as to produce vivid sectional shifts.”

The New York Times lists DFALD among the new buildings making a mark. The article spotlights Nader who, along with Katie, has garnered critical accolades for the newly opened DFALD. This is the third architecture school Nader has designed.

Read the New York Times article HERE and read the feature on DFALD’s blog HERE.

“For Daniels, [NADAAA] floats an origami-like roof over a 110-foot-wide column-free room to create floodlit studio and social spaces below. A new circulation spine attempts to better link the building, which is set on a traffic roundabout, into the city.”

The Daniels Building is featured in Metropolis Magazine’s July/August print issue written by Alex Bozikovic.

“The question was, how do you not mimic the existing building, but speak to it in a corresponding way?” says Nader Tehrani of NADAAA. They found an answer: a new wing that shows, with forms that are spiky and radically contemporary, how design can deal with the past and also change the city.”
