Video from the recent Brown University and RISD joint symposium Intersections in Pedagogy.

Stan Allen speaks on Architecture and the Humanities and Nader discusses Rethinking Pedagogical Spaces:

“a great part of what design thinking brings to the equation is the notion that there is a necessity for iteration, a necessity for risk and the idea that only through critical failure might you stumble across spaces of invention.”

Also, see Bernard Tschumi’s lecture from the night before here.

WEARING THE MSD

The hanging studio has been re-imagined as wearable art by Shereen Amin and Amanda Luu, students of Monash University’s Art, Design and Architecture program (MADA). ‘After painstakingly developing a gradient panelization system, thick and massive on one end while thin and suspended on the other, the Beaux Arts Ball rectified this trope by a classical tri-partite rendition with a base, shaft, and top section strategically aligned with figural protrusions.’ – Nader Tehrani

John Wardle, Stefan Mee and Nader discuss the Melbourne School of Design in issue 55 of MARK Magazine.

“I don’t think the building proclaims its pedagogical lessons in an overt form. The real lessons are to be learned in its intrinsic detail. It’s more about our hopes of inviting enough curiosity to have users examine the detail.” – John Wardle
